Hiking tour Mutspitze
Short description
From the orchards of Meran to the lofty heights of the Texel Group: hikers experience the unrivalled diversity of South Tyrol here
Description
It only takes three hours to climb the south-easternmost mountain of the Texel Group Nature Park, provided you are free from giddiness. The panorama on the Mutspitze extends from the 3,000-metre high peaks of the Texelgruppe to the vineyards of the Burggrafenamt.
Starting point of the tour
Dorf Tirol (573 m) ; "Hochmuth" cable car valley station
Destination point of the tour
Mutspitze (2,294 m)
Route description
The moderately difficult route to the Mutspitze begins with a short cable car ride. In just five minutes, the "Hochmuth" cable car covers 800 metres in altitude. At the mountain station, follow trail no. 22 through the forest to the Mutkopf mountain inn (1,648 m). Trail no. 23 now leads over the broad eastern ridge of the Mutspitze and a short, airy ridge to the summit at 2,294 metres.
The descent continues on trail no. 23 via the western side of the Mutspitze. After reaching the Taufernscharte, the path turns off to the south and leads via hairpin bends to the Leiteralm and on to the "Meraner Höhenweg" high-altitude trail, which in turn leads directly back to the Hochmuth cable car mountain station.
