Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
From April to mid November, the 12-hectare gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are a blooming oasis that impressively displays the diverse beauty of the plant world.
The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are organized in 4 different garden worlds: the forests of the world, the sungardens, the water and terraced gardens as well as the landscapes of South Tyrol. Due to the difference in altitude of 100 meter within the garden of Trauttmansdorff Castle that means there are always fantastic views on more than 80 different garden landscapes, the surrounding mountain peaks and the city of Meran.
Blossoms from spring to autumn
Approximately 35 gardeners care for this garden paradise all year round. Instead of using pesticides, the natural resistance of the plants is strengthened, e.g. with garlic extract. Already in November, the planting of about 350,000 spring-flowering plants begins. From the sea of blossoms in spring to the exotic plants in summer and the vibrant colours in autumn, every season in the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle has its own charm and delights garden enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Outlook points and experience stations
The highlights in the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle include 2 spectacular panoramic platforms: Matteo Thun's viewing platform and the aviary.
