Bathing holidays in northern Italy
The lakes in South Tyrol offer ideal conditions for a refreshing swimming holiday in northern Italy. Lake Kaltern, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, invites you to swim and sunbathe. Lake Prags impresses with its emerald green water and stunning mountain backdrop. The natural bathing pond in Völs and the Lakes of Montiggl are also popular places to swim and relax in summer.
In addition to the lakes, the region's clear rivers and streams also offer welcome refreshment while hiking. For example, you can refresh yourself during a short break along the Passer river or at the mountain streams at lofty heights.
Active holidays in the mountains
An active holiday in the South Tyrolean mountains offers countless opportunities to explore nature in a sporty way. In addition to classic hikes and mountain bike tours, there are special summer offers. These include high alpine via ferratas and summit tours on three thousand metre peaks, which are only accessible in the warmer months. Tours around the Dolomites are particularly popular, offering spectacular views and varied routes.
Horse riding is also an excellent way to discover the impressive nature of South Tyrol. Hafling is home to the famous Haflinger horses. Here, visitors can experience the gentle alpine pastures and forests of the Meran 2000 hiking region on picturesque bridle paths.
Where is it warm in South Tyrol in summer?
In the valleys and towns of South Tyrol, it can get quite hot during the day with temperatures of over 30 °C. In Bozen, for example, it is usually a little hotter than in Meran, so Meran is a good choice for those who like it warm but not too hot.
Those who like it a little cooler and are looking forward to a summer holiday in the mountains will feel at home in the higher mountain valleys. In Hochpustertal or in the upper Vinschgau Valley, temperatures usually only reach a maximum of 25 °C in midsummer.
