Hiking tour Lake Vernagt
Short description
Circular hike around the Vernagt lake in Schnals.
Description
In addition to its glacier, the Schnalstal Valley is known and loved above all for its unique cultural landscape. Many mountain farms in extreme locations, lush green Alpine meadows and the marvellously situated Vernagt lake make the Vinschgau side valley a hiker's paradise.

Route description
The hike begins in Vernagt and leads to the right of the reservoir, first up to the Tisenhof and then on to the Rafienhof. From here, trail no. 9 leads over larch and grassy slopes to the Fineil farmstead, which for a long time was considered the highest granary in Europe. On the access road, trail no. 9 branches off to the right shortly after the first hairpin bend and leads down to the Schnalser Talstraße.
Here, hikers then choose path no. 13a and descend to the fork in the path, where a wooden staircase soon leads to the airy but well-secured suspension bridge on the right. After crossing the bridge, continue along the same path until you reach the southern shore of the lake. Here you return to the starting point in Vernagt.
