Route description
Marling near Meran surprises with a low-lying high-altitude trail. Although the highest point of the trail is only 780 metres, it is the impressive views of the steep Burggrafenamt below that more than justify the title "high-altitude trail".
We start in Töll and follow the path marked "Waalweg", which leads us along lively streams through magnificent mixed forest. After crossing the Vinschgau railway line and two small asphalt roads, we reach the Obermair snack station. Here or a little further on, at Gasthof Schönblick or Greiterhof, we recommend a short stop for refreshments. Shortly below the Greiterhof, the path signposted "Waalweg" turns right again.
Past the Waldschenke restaurant and the Waalheim inn, the main section of the hike signposted "Marlinger Höhenweg" begins after the Leitenschenke inn. We pass the Heidenhof, Lebenberg Castle, the Inner-Holzmairhof and finally the "Senn am Egg" inn. From there, we return to the "Waalweg" and hike back to Marling and Töll.
