Women's Museum
The museum displays articles of clothing, accessories and everyday items giving information about the image and role of women in the last 200 years. Evelyn Ortner has always collected different everyday items reflecting the life of women. She began collecting already when she was a teenager, continuing with it also when she was the owner of “Petersilie” second hand shop in Meran.
In 1988, she opened the “Small Museum of Dress and Trumpery”, which is today the always expanded and renewed Women’s Museum in Meran. The museum pieces are displayed in six different rooms. The collection is about the various typical and historically evolved images of women. In fact, stereotypes are highlighted and the history of our ancestresses is told in a credible way.
