The Plattner Hof farm is located in Wolfsgruben, on a picturesque hill. It is one of the oldest farms on Ritten and immediately stands out due to its thatched and shingle roof. The Museum of Apiculture Plattner Bienenhof can easily be reached with Ritten Railway.
The living rooms of the historical building are almost unchanged. Here, you will learn more about the South Tyrolean mountain farmers and see the fully furnished rooms as well as everyday objects of long-past times.
In the barn of Plattner Hof farm, you will immerse into the world of bees. An extensive collection about apiculture in South Tyrol and multimedia presentations give an insight into the history of apiculture and the recovery of bee products.
As well, visitors should also see the educational trail near the historical farm. Between ancient crops and unfertilised meadows providing the bees with valuable nutrients, there is a show beehive with a real colony of bees. The wheel of life represents the cycle of life of a worker bee. As well, you will have the possibility to learn how a bee sees the world. The significance of bees in literature and in culture of different populations is represented on interesting panels too.
In the Museum of Apiculture Plattner on Ritten, all visitors receive an individual guided tour in the historical living rooms, in the magic world of honey bees as well as on the educational trail and via the outside area. Groups should register in advance.
Plattner Hof farm also offers the homemade honey as well as numerous other homemade bee products for sale.
