

















Museum of fruit cultivation in Lana
In South Tyrol, in the area of Meran, Bozen, Vinschgau and Eisacktal, you will find hills and expanses of cultivated fruit trees such as apples, pears and apricots, vines for the production of wines or even strawberry fields.
Lana, in the area of Meran, is in the middle of the South Tyrolean fruit cultivation area which extends for 18,500 hectares. Here rise a museum that tells the story, activities and the secrets of South Tyrolean fruit. Guests at the museum of Lana will learn about agricultural activities such the protection of orchards from spring frost, which is the first requirement for a good harvest, irrigation and pest control.
The museum was set up in the medieval residence "Larchgut”. An area of nearly 1,000 square meters, takes you on a journey to discover how the fruit grown in South Tyrol, what techniques are used to ensure good crops and what are the means, from the most rudimentary to the most technological, which are used for the collection and processing of the fruit.
Inside the museum you can also admire the most ancient tools once used in viticulture, agriculture and livestock, such as a wine press of 1570 from the Castle Braunsberg which happens to be the oldest in the province.
