Hiking tour Tauernweg
Short description
Hiking on historical paths in Prettau.

Prettau
Destination of the tour
Hochwieser Alm
Route description
From Prettau you walk to Kasern, where you park at the car park. From there, mountain enthusiasts hike along the Way of the Cross to the Heilig Geist pilgrimage church and past the old Trinkstein customs guardhouse to the historic Tauernweg trail no. 14. Hikers reach the Obere Tauernalm on the Tauernweg trail. Here a panoramic high-level trail branches off to the Hochwieser Alm.
There, hikers can recover from the exertions of the ascent and prepare for the descent. The way back leads along trail no. 15 back to Kasern. Hikers in good physical condition are recommended to take the ascent to the Krimmler Tauern: the descent to the Heiliggeist Jöchl and back to Kasern is via the Lausitzer Höhenweg trail no. 13.
