Route description
From Rein (1,536 m) on trail no. 1 along the stream valley to the Untere Terner Alm (1,874 m), on to the Eppacher Alm (2,041 m) and up to the Kasseler Hütte (also Hochgallhütte, 2,276 m).
The 'Artur-Hartdegen' high-altitude trail, marked no. 8, starts here. The trail runs under the north face of the Hochgall, crosses several streams, circles the Riesennock (exposed sections are equipped with holding ropes) and reaches the fork opposite the Ursprungalm (2,350 m). Continue left, cross the Ursprungbach stream and reach the Ursprungalm hut.
Continue on trail 8 A below the Bärenluegwand to the Brunneralm and the Obere Kofleralm.
Descent: From the Obere Kofleralm take path 8A down to the Untere Kofleralm. Continue through the forest down to the Ebnerhof and on the Höfestraße via the Knuttenbach and the Knuttentalstraße back to Rein.
