Would you prefer to start the Advent season with a visit to a Christmas market to really get into the Christmas spirit? Then take a look at our 3 tips for Advent markets with a special touch!
Tyrolean Advent in the Castle
A fairytale Christmas market in the Meran region takes place on the first two weekends of Advent, from Friday to Sunday, at the imposing Castle Tyrol. Tyrolean Advent in the Castle delights visitors with the imposing setting of the castle, whose history dates back to the 12th century and to which the province of Tyrol owes its name. The castle can be reached on foot from the village centre of Dorf Tirol in about 30 minutes and, weather permitting, it is possible to take a comfortable carriage ride from the church square to about 300 m in front of the castle.
Elegant one-of-a-kind bags and delicate wreaths of dried flowers, handmade applewood cutting boards and high-quality natural fabrics for the children: here you will find beautiful things that will give you pleasure for a long time. An exhibition of cribs awaits you in the castle chapel, while in the romantic inner courtyard you can enjoy food and drink at the stalls of local associations. The supporting program also includes Advent concerts, a theatre performance, a children's craft workshop and more.
⭐ Don't miss: On Sunday, 1 December 2024, you can see the Krampus. The Krampus 'Spronser Tuifl' will visit Tyrol Castle at 14:00.
Opening Hours:
29.11 - 01.12.2024
06.12 - 08.12.2024
From 11:00 to 18:00.
More information, the detailed program and the list of exhibitors can be found on the Dorf Tirol Tourism Association website.
Alpine Advent in Sarntal
The Sarntal Valley also focuses on tradition and Alpine authenticity during Advent. In 2024, the Sarntaler Alpen Advent celebrates its 20th anniversary and 20 beautifully decorated wooden stalls with handmade products from the Sarntal Valley await visitors of all ages in Sarntal. The Christmas market will open on Friday, 29 November 2024 at 5 p.m. and can be visited on Saturdays and Sundays during Advent and on Monday, 23 December 2024.
At the Alpine Advent in Sarntal you will find many beautiful gifts and delicious specialities: from cosy slippers made of sheep's wool to objects turned from fragrant Swiss stone pine, from soothing natural cosmetics made from the Sarntaler dwarf pine to spicy mountain cheese from the farm's own cheese dairy. There are also contemplative Christmas sounds from music and singing groups, a living nativity scene, a living workshop, a Christmas forest for children and carriage rides.

Christmas Village Klausen
Klausen's romantic alleys offer the perfect setting for a romantic Christmas market: the Christmas Village of Klausen spreads the magic of Christmas on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the Advent weekends, with each of the four weekends having a different theme and different highlights. For example, on Saturday 30 November 2024 there is a medieval parade through the town and on Sunday 22 December 2024 there is the 'Arrival of the Christmas Angel'.
On other dates, at the Christmas Village in Klausen you can experience a hostel search with a living nativity scene, listen to Christmas carols or watch spinning. On Saturdays and Sundays, children can have fun doing handicrafts or cooking in the creative corner. Stalls offer everything from incense to mulled wine, from nativity figures to donuts, from herbal teas to candles, to create a true Christmas atmosphere.
