This rewarding hut hike starts at the upper car park of the valley station of the Suldner cable car. Hikers set off on trail no. 1 to the Schaubach hut, crossing the Rosim stream and reaching the middle station of the cable car. From here, take trail no. 2 to the Hintergrat hut, which crosses the Suldenbach stream and leads via hairpin bends to the beautifully embedded Unterer and Oberer See lakes. Immediately afterwards, hikers come to the Hintergrat Hütte, where they continue to the Gratsee lake after a pleasant rest and on trail no. 3 to the Langenstein.
Here, hikers are treated to a breathtaking view of the valley. The route continues steeply downhill to the scree cirque of the "End of the World Ferners" and the K2 hut on the Langestein. Head northwards to the Tabaretta hut on trail no. 10-4a. Mountain enthusiasts pass the Kuhboden, the Schneckenpleissen and the Marltmoröne scree cirque and reach the hut via serpentines, which is also the destination of the hike. Here, summiteers can enjoy the view of the north face of the Ortler before heading back on trail no. 4 and reaching the starting point from St. Gertraud on trail no. 7.
