Route description
This consistently easy hike starts at the Gasserhütte mountain hut. It can be reached via an 8 km long road from Villanders. Hikers follow the path to the Totenkirchl and then climb over to the Totenberg. From here, the hike continues steeply to the Villanderer Berg. The view of the Eisack valley basin and the Sarntal Alps is fantastic.
Instead of setting off on the return journey, mountain enthusiasts can continue to the Sarner Scharte and via path no. 3 to the Gasteiger Sattel. Here, hikers follow a wide track and return to the starting point.
