Short description

Vinschgau: cycle from Sulden to the Stierberg.

Description

Sulden lies at the foot of the Ortler and is an extremely popular ski resort in the Vinschgau Valley in winter. Sulden is almost at the end of the world, but is - or precisely because of this - a true gem of the South Tyrolean mountain landscape.

Starting point of the tour

Prad

Destination of the tour

Stierberger Alm

Route description

The mountain bike tour to the Stierberg in Sulden starts in Prad and takes cyclists past the little church of St. Johann and the snack station Zum Dürren Ast. At the Valnairhof farm, the route continues towards the Stelvio bridge, where cyclists take the Trus forest path (path no. 13) towards Solda/Sulden. The last few kilometres to Sulden are on the main road. Once in Sulden, mountain bikers can recover from their exertions and recharge their batteries. Continue along the road to the Hotel Marlet and then on the very steep forest path no. 19 and 18 to the rustic Kälberhütte.
Once there, a flat path leads above the tree line to the Stierberger Alm. After a panoramic rest, the route continues along a breathtaking trail to the Valnairer Alm and from there down a winding forest path. Caution: don't miss the junction to Tschengels! Via Tschengels and the Vinschgau cycle path back to the starting point in Prad.
