Route description
Mountain bikers start in the municipality of Graun directly in Reschen at the cycle path junction by the alpine dairy. The route first heads west along the lake until you reach the valley station of the Schöneben cable car. Here, bikers pedal slightly uphill on the tarmac road towards Rojen. After a short descent, mountain bikers cycle along a gravelled military path to the Reschener Alm and enjoy the magnificent view of Lake Reschen and the Ötztal Alps. Cyclists can take a break and refresh themselves at the Reschener Alm. The route then continues past old barracks towards the border and cyclists follow the signs for Grünsee. Beautiful trails and a pushing section await bikers here.
After the mountain lake, the route descends on easy trails to the Kastealpe mountain station on the Reschener Bundesstraße. Bikers take the old Via Claudia Augusta route here and turn left at the foot of the mountain and ride steeply on gravel roads to the Kastelalpe. Once at the top, turn right towards the south and Plamort. A beautiful trail leads cyclists to the borders and past armoured barriers to Plamort, where bikers will be overwhelmed by the view of the Ortler and the Reschen and Haider lakes. From here, cyclists cycle back to Reschen on a military track.
