Short description

Cycling in the Meransen-Gitschberg mountain pasture region!

Description

Where others enjoy carving down the pistes in winter, lovers of two-wheeled transport go for a spin in summer.

Starting point of the tour

Village centre of Meransen

Destination of the tour

Gitschberg mountain station

Route description

The mountain bike tour starts in the village centre of Meransen. Here you first head towards the cable car and then turn left at the Pichlerhof. Mountain bikers now pedal to the Grabenkreuz and on trail no. 12 (note: the trail is also used by hikers) to the Zasslerhütte. After a short rest, continue to the Gitschberg mountain station.

The way back is quite flowy on the same trail no. 12, a treat for downhill fans. If you like, you can continue the trail from Maranza to Mühlbach, but technical riding skills and a full-suspension bike are an absolute must. In addition, the continuation is only recommended for the hardy. The strenuous climbs can also be shortened by a cable car ride.

But "real" mountain bikers don't shy away from steep trails - not even those from Meransen up to the mountain station of the Gitschberg cable car. Because the more strenuous the ascent, the more enjoyable the downhill section.
