Skiing region Gitschberg Jochtal

Gitschberg and Jochtal are two sunny skiing areas in Eisacktal, on the slopes of Pfunders Mountains. Directly on the outskirts of Meransen, two gondola lifts offer the best start to an eventful week in the snow. In addition to a narrow forest run, the Gitschberg Jochtal is characterised by broad, easy to difficult ski slopes, offering enough space and diversion for everyone.

Double skiing fun

Gitschberg skiing area offers plenty of skiing fun for experts and beginners. The ride on the chair lift ends directly underneath the peak cross where you can orientate yourself quite easily in the beautiful mountain region, thanks to the 360 degrees panorama platform. The panoramic view of more than 500 peaks, which are distributed throughout half of Southern Tyrol, the Dolomites, the Zillertal, Stubaier and Ötztal Alps, will surely remain unforgettable.

With its 55 kilometres of slopes and 16 lift facilities, the skiing are is also part of Dolomiti Superski skiing carousel. Gitschberg Jochtal is usually open from the beginning of December until after Easter. Childcare as well as unlimited ski fun are guaranteed by “Il Cavaliere” and by mascot “Gimmy”, offered by the local ski schools.

Winter hiking, tobogganing & cross-country skiing

Ski- & holiday area Rio Pusteria/Gitschberg Jochtal is also ideal for idyllic winter hikes as many huts are reachable on skis and on foot. Perfectly prepared tobogganing and cross-country ski runs will delight snow lovers. A weekly programme with exciting activities, such as guided torch-lit hikes and snowshoe hikes, offer dreamlike winter experiences.
