Speikboden is not only a popular ski area, but also scores highly as a hiking area with Panoramic and varied routes, rustic mountain huts and lovely mountain restaurants. From the valley station in Drittelsand, just north of Sand in Taufers, the cable car takes young and old quickly and comfortably up to the Speikboden Alm station.

From the Speikboden Alm station at an altitude of 2,000 metres, the circular hikes on the panoramic trail with impressive views from the Zillertal Alps to the Dolomites or on the shorter Zirbenweg trail are particularly recommended. If you want to go even higher, you can take the Sonnklar chairlift up to 2,400 metres and the observation tower with 360-degree panoramic views.
There are also 4 via ferrata routes of varying difficulty to choose from on the Speikboden – from the easy Pirate via ferrata for children to the Michl and Avventura in Natura via ferrata routes and the challenging Speikboden via ferrata up to the summit cross. Practical: there is a climbing equipment hire centre at the Speikboden station.
The Cross Woods forest slide park in the Speikboden Family Park guarantees fun for the whole family.

You can find cats and rabbits, goats and calves, chickens and ducks in the Pettin zoo in the Family Park Speikboden.

The highlight of the Speikboden Family Park is the Cross Woods forest slide park: slide carpets can be hired for a daily fee and then nothing stands in the way of testing out the slides at different speeds.
Families can also have fun at the hay jumping and planing station: Children can experience alpine nature with all their senses by jumping into the hay and planing Swiss stone pine wood. And then there's the petting zoo with cats and rabbits, goats and calves, chickens and ducks: Petting and feeding the trusting animals makes children's eyes light up.

The Speikboden and the Tauferer Ahrntal can also be explored on mountain bike tours, and brave souls can experience the alpine mountain world from a particularly exciting perspective while paragliding: There are several beautiful launch sites at Speikboden and tandem flights are also available.
After their adventures in the fresh mountain air, active holidaymakers can enjoy culinary delights: bacon dumplings, Ahrntal grey cheese and more are served on the terraces and in the parlours of the Alpine huts and restaurants in the Speikboden hiking area.
