Hiking area Rosskopf
The proximity to the picturesque South Tyrolean city of Sterzing, the fat accessibility by car and train as well as the varied offer of outdoor activities make Rosskopf a wanted holiday destination for the whole family.
Sterzing in upper Eisacktal is one of the highest cities in the Alps. Situated only a two-minutes-walk from the medieval city centre of Sterzing, a modern gondola lift brings you to Rosskopf – in summer and in winter. During the cold months, Rosskopf is a famous skiing area with perfectly prepared slopes and a wonderful toboggan run. In summer, it offers varied activities for all ages in the middle of a dreamlike mountain landscape.
Reaching the summit by cableway
Also in summer, the gondolas hover to an altitude of 1,800 m and in the main season, a panoramic chairlift goes even higher-. This way, everybody has the possibility to enjoy a dreamlike panoramic view over Zillertal Alps, the Dolomites, Sarntal Alps and Stubai Alps. It is rare that you can reach a mountain world with easy and challenging hiking tours directly from a city. We particularly recommend the Dolomieu path, passing along six pastures and finishing in Pflersch valley, guaranteeing an unforgettable holiday.
Holiday fun for young & old
A special course for the whole family starts at the mountain station of the Telemix: The new summer toboggan run Panorama Mountain Coaster also offers fun and action.
Right beside Rosskopf top station, Rossy Park petting zoo is a wonderful attraction for kids: Donkeys, goats, sheep and rabbits are waiting for their caresses. With the alpacas and lamas, you can also make trekking tours by appointment.
Afterwards, you can finish your perfect holiday with a visit to Sterzing city centre. Countless shops in the wonderful historical centre and traditional inns and restaurants offer a mix of Alpine and Mediterranean way of life.
