MTB tour Rieseferner

Short description

Dolomites mountain bike tip: Cycling in the Rieserferner region!

Description

This hellish tour not only takes cyclists from Sand in Taufers around the Rieserferner Nature Park, but above all makes them work up a sweat. The Rieserferner tour is therefore not for Sunday cyclists and should not be underestimated, even by experienced bikers.

Starting point of the tour

Sand in Taufers

Destination of the tour

Sand in Taufers

Route description

The tour starts in Sand in Taufers and first takes bikers to Rein in Taufers. The marked cycle path no. 9 continues steeply into the Knuttental valley to the Kuttenalm. From here, continue on trail no. 9 to the Klammlsee lake and on to the Klammljoch in the realm of the Rieserferner. From here, continue on trail no. 111 into the Arvental valley and on into the Defreggental valley to the Patscherhütte hut and the Alpenrose inn. Here the road branches off to the Stallersattel. From the Stallersattel, descend to Lake Antholz. Continue along the main road to the junction with the Pustertaler Straße. Here a cycle path leads to Bruneck and back to Sand in Taufers.

Mountain bikers cycle along a wide, tarmac cycle path to Uttenheim, Gais and Bruneck, where cyclists take the path towards Percha along the old Roman road and return to the starting point.
