Short description

Bike up the Klein Jöchl in the Tauferer Ahrntal!

Description

The tour from Sand in Taufers to Klein Jöchl is just right for passionate mountain bikers who are not scared by short pushing sections and who really get going on bumpy trails.

Starting point of the tour

Sand in Taufers

Destination of the tour

Klein Jöchl

Route description

The tour starts at the northern end of Sand in Taufers and initially leads along the main road towards Luttach. Mountain bikers then turn right towards Taufers Castle. Cyclists take trail no. 33 towards Aschbach and Ahornach. At the Stocker Hof. Here you finally leave the tarmac and continue on gravel, with the last section of the route being quite steep. Before continuing, cyclists have to get off the saddle, shoulder their bikes and carry them up to the Klein Jöchl.
The reward is a marvellous panoramic view of the Tauferer Ahrntal and the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park. A challenging but flowing trail leads mountain bikers into the Pojental valley and along a good forest road over the alpine pasture to the hamlet of the same name. At the Pichlerhof farm, the route continues to the right at a fork in the road and, before the bridge, takes trail no. 33 steeply to Aschbach and back to the starting point in Sand in Taufers.
