MTB tour Ochsenlenke

Mountain bike tour in Steinhaus: cycle to the Ochsenlenke in the Tauferer Ahrntal.

A special tour in the Tauferer Ahrntal is the one from Steinhaus to Ochsenlenke and Knuttenalm and back to Steinhaus via Ahornach and Sand in Taufers. Pedallers experience the Tauferer Ahrntal from above.

The starting point of the mountain bike tour is Steinhaus. First take the main road towards Prettau and before entering the village take a forest road that leads into the Hasental valley and to the alp of the same name. Mountain bikers continue to the Innere Hasentalalm and turn off shortly after the mountain pasture onto a signposted path to the Ochsenlenke.
Mountain bikers cycle in serpentines over a steep grassy slope to the south and to the ridge of the Ochsenlenke. The route descends to the Brunnerhütte and along a narrow forest path to the Klammljoch. Out of the valley, cyclists soon reach the Knuttenalm and Rein and continue along a forest path to Kote and Ahornach. From there, the route leads to Aschbach and Sand in Taufers back to the Steinhaus starting point.
