The picturesque Lake Reschen in Vinschgau is located at 1,470 m and is mostly covered by a thick layer of ice in winter. The constant wind transforms the like into a snowkiting paradise, while it is used by kitesurfers also in summer too. Optimal conditions for snowkiting fans can be found as well on Lake Haider, slightly south of Lake Reschen.

Every year, there is the International Snowkite Championship. The participants show spectacular jumps and compete in a speed race.
What is so simple in appearance, however, has to be learned. Also, around Lake Reschen and Lake Haider there are several excellent snowkiting and kitesurfing schools, offering lessons for beginners.
