Lake Zufritt
Lake Zufritt is formed by the waters of Plima rivers and is a starting point for hikers and mountaineers, for bikers and fishermen in the wonderful Martell Valley. In winter, the valley offers ski tours, snowshoe hikes and a biathlon centre. Ice climbers are looking forward to icy waterfalls.
Varied hiking paths & spectacular climbing wall
Be it a family-friendly hiking tour, a hike to Mt. Pederköpfl (2,585 m) or challenging tour to the wonderful Mt. Zufrittspitze (3,439 m) with glacier crossing – the surroundings offers breathtaking mountain panoramas. Of course, mountain bikers will feel like in paradise in the environs of Lake Zufritt as well.
In summer, the climbing wall Alperia Dam Martell – depending on the routes – an excellent climbing adventure for beginners and experts. Also, the travellers who hiking along Plima gorge should be free of giddiness, offering wonderful views from different platforms. The starting point for this thematic hike is not Lake Zufritt, but the parking lot in Hintermartell.
Fishes & bearded vultures
Fishing in Lake Zufritt is a relaxing leisure activity in the middle of nature. Foreign guests can buy the necessary fishing licence D, for instance in the Tourist office of Meran. The as well necessary day ticket is available in the Hotel zum See, only during the opening hours of the hotel – otherwise from the reservoir attendants.
Not just Lake Zufritt itself is a habitat for a varied fauna. Stilfserjoch National Park is the home for impressive animals such as the golden eagle and the ibex and if you are lucky, you can also see bearded vultures. Since there was a successful reintroduction project a few years ago, some bearded vultures have been breeding in Martell Valley.
