Lake Vahrn
The small lake near Vahrn in Eisacktal is a favourite destination for nature lovers and hikers. You can take wonderful walks around the lake through cherry, chestnut and apple trees.
Note: Access to Lake Vahrn is completely closed until further notice, as divers are recovering war relics from the lake.
The wooded surroundings of Lake Vahrn are a popular recreational area in Eisacktal. The walk along the shore is not strenuous and ca be enjoyed by the whole family. Along the way, numerous cosy spots invite you to have a picnic in the most beautiful natural surroundings.
The southern part of the lake near Vahrn has been designated a biotope and is therefore a nature reserve, providing a habitat for different dragonflies and other animal and plant species. The northern section was originally freely accessible. Due to the shallow water depth and excellent water quality, Lake Vahrn was also ideal for swimming. Since 2018, however, swimming, diving and fishing have been prohibited here, as there are numerous relics from the world wars at the bottom of the lake.
