Lake Wolfsgruben on Ritten
Lake Wolfsgruben is situated at 1,176 m in Wolfsgruben, a small hamlet near Oberbozen and is surrounded by a dense wood. A headland with a hotel on it separated the bathing lake on Ritten into two almost equal halves with a maximal depth of 4 m.
The picturesque small lake is one of the ten cleanest freshwater lakes in Italy and offers ideal conditions for a refreshing bath in summer. Afterwards, you can relax on the sunbathing lawn near the forest. The bathing goes from June until September.
Lake Wolfsgruben can be reached via a street, a comfortable walking path (about 25 minutes from Oberbozen) or by Ritten railway. The distance between the railway station and the lake is 10-minutes’ walk only.
In addition to swimming and sunbathing, Lake Wolfsgruben is perfect for hiking, relaxing and fishing too.
In winter, the lake freezes due to its limited size and invites you to go ice skating, play hockey or curling.
