Beautiful hike to the Schönbichl in the Pustertal.
Description
In German, Schönbichl means nothing other than beautiful mountain. Schönbichl in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park is one of the most beautiful mountain destinations in Pustertal, is easy to reach and rewarding.
Starting point
Oberwielenbach
Destination point of the tour
Schönbichl
Route description
The tour starts by car or bus from Percha near Bruneck to Oberwielenbach, an idyllic mountain village at the foot of the Rieserferner mountains. Park at the end of the village and follow hiking trail 1 (which is a toboggan run in winter) to the last hut. Here, after a few metres, path 7b branches off to the left, leading through larch forests and steep slopes up to the high plateau of the "Hühnerspiel".
Follow trail 7b to the Schönbichl summit cross. From here you can enjoy a fantastic view. For the way back, we recommend the variant via the Hühnerspiel. Stay on trail 7B and hike straight ahead through lovely pine forests. Caution: Do not branch off to the Tesselberger Alm. After three quarters of an hour, turn left onto path 3 from where you return to Oberwielenbach.
