Short description
From Pfalzen on the Pfunderer Höhenweg trail.
Description
The "Pfunderer Höhenweg" is one of the most challenging high-altitude trails in South Tyrol and connects Pfalzen-Platten with the rugged mountain world of the Pfunders Valley, which is still largely undiscovered by tourists. Here is a section.
Starting point of the tour
Platten near Pfalzen in Pustertal
Destination point of the tour
Platten
Route description
The starting point is Platten near Pfalzen in Val Pusteria/Pustertal. From here, you first hike along the access road up to the Tierstallerhof farm and follow the 66A markings to the edge of the forest. Continue along an old mule track and a forest path to the Jägerhütte hut, where hikers take trail no. 66 and ascend over the Platte to the Sambock. At the Sambock, you join the Pfunders high-altitude trail, which is marked with a red circle and a white dot.
Follow a narrow path in a northerly direction, crossing boulders and scabby terrain until you reach the saddle. From there, head to the summit cross and on to the next saddle on the Pfunderer Höhenweg. Here you take path no. 67 and hike to the Plattener Seen lakes, the Plattner Alm and back to the starting point of the mountain tour.
