Description
The Bletterbach Gorge is South Tyrol's only canyon and is witness to prehistoric life in the southern region of the Alps. Traces of dinosaurs can be found here and layered rock sediments provide information about the geological development of our country.

Route description
From Obereggen you first go by car or bus to Maria Weißenstein, a widely known place of pilgrimage in the south of South Tyrol. At the bus stop, trail S branches off. Hikers follow it to the Schönrastalm and Schmiederalm and continue on trail G to the Lahneralm.
Trail no. 3 begins there. Following it, you finally reach the unique Bletterbach Gorge. Nature lovers follow the Bletterbach into the gorge. Take trail G back to the Lahneralm. There, hikers enter the Klösertal valley on trail no. 3 and then hike back to the starting point on trail E5.

Trains stop at the railway station in Bozen, bus connection Bozen-Obereggen.
Directions
Brenner motorway A22, exit Bozen Nord, direction Bozen at the roundabout, turn left into Eggental (SS 241) and then continue on the long Dolomites road, in Birchabruck turn right to Eggental, Obereggen.
