Short description
Hiking to the top of Mt. Kronplatz: panoramic hike around Mt. Kronplatz in the Dolomites.
Description
In winter, the Kronplatz is undisputedly South Tyrol's No. 1 ski mountain. In summer, on the other hand, the "Bald Mountain" surprises with many scenic hikes, deep forests and countless cows that cavort where skiers carve down the mountain in winter.
Starting point of the tour
Furkel pass between Olang and Enneberg
Destination of the tour
Kronplatz summit
Route description
The tour starts at the Furkelsattel between Olang and Enneberg. The trail begins next to the Furkel house and leads moderately uphill on a forest road to the southern slope of Mt. Kronplatz and to the Panorama Trail. The signposted Panorama Trail first takes hikers west and to the Graziani Hut. The trail continues north, where there are magnificent views of the Tauferer Ahrntal valley.
Somewhat steeper, the trail now leads walkers to the Kronplatz hut and up to the summit. There you will find a bronze bell that rings only on special occasions and in whose relief the surrounding mountains are marked. The way back is via the marked Prackenweg trail (No. 13) or in high season with the Furkel cable car.
