Short description

Neumarkt: On the way along a railway line steeped in history.

Description

It is the old railway line of the Fiemme Valley Railway that takes bikers from Neumarkt to Montan, Kaltenbrunn, Kalditsch and Truden and shows the south of South Tyrol from its wild and romantic side.

Starting point of the tour

Neumarkt centre

Destination of the tour

Kaltenbrunn railway station

Route description

The cycle tour starts in the centre of Neumarkt. On Fleimstaler Straße, the route first heads uphill towards Montan, then on Castelfeder Straße (junction to Pinzon) through beautiful orchards and onto Pinzonerstraße. Shortly before Montan, bikers take the "Promenaden Wanderweg", where the old railway line begins shortly afterwards. Bikers follow this to Kaltenbrunn and cross the valley on the Glener Viaduct and the road leading from Montan to Truden.
The tour continues through a tunnel (don't forget your lights) and on to Enn Castle. After a short break with a view of the castle, cyclists cycle along the Dolomite road to the railway station in Kalditsch, where the tour continues along the old railway line. Once at the Pichlerhof farm, bikers turn left into the orchards, pedal to the chapel and from there continue to the right until they finally reach the railway station in Kaltenbrunn. From there, the tour leads via Gschnon and in the direction of Montan to trail no. 3, which takes cyclists back to the starting point in Neumarkt.
