Baths Rumestluns in Wengen

In 1793, the spring of Baths Rumestluns was mentioned for the first time. Till the 19th century mainly locals used the at that time wooden bathhouses. But also famous guests such as the German physicist and Nobel prize Winner Max Planck sampled the treatments with the special mineral water that was considered as remedy in particular for rheumatism and diminished appetite.

Characteristics of the spring water

There are no scientific proofs of the healing power of Wengen’s water, but it is certain that it contains minerals such as sulphide and iodine, moreover traces of boron, barium, bromine, gold, lithium and other elements.

The spring is located at about 1,400 above sea level and the water has a temperature of 5.6 °C to 7.5 °C. Within the framework of the project “mineral spring and oasis of calm” that includes several sources throughout South Tyrol also Baths Rumestluns have been reorganized. Today there are a beautiful fountain made of dolomite and a water dispenser.

The arrangement of spring and oasis of calm follows the natural hydrologic cycle: water springs up and drains away again. Of course you can also taste the utterly harmless water and assure oneself of its possible effect. However, odour and savour of the water need getting used to due to the sulphur content.

If you like to visit the mineral spring of Baths Rumestluns you have to go to Alta Badia and to Pederoa. There a street leads towards Wengen and Lunz. In Lunz you finally have to turn right and after circa 1.5 km on a narrow street you reach Baths Rumestluns.
