Beer from South Tyrol
Beer brewing is attached with particular importance in South Tyrol too. Already many centuries ago in the whole country there were many taverns, which brewed beer. In big parts of South Tyrol there was plant hops and barley, the basics of good beer.
In addition to large breweries, some smaller breweries and pub breweries have established their position in South Tyrol too.
The best known breweries in South Tyrol:
Forst, Algund
The most popular brewery today is the brewery Forst in Algund. The Forst beer is known and popular all over the world and is valued as quality beer.
Rienzbräu, Bruneck
Rienzbräu brewery produced lager, special beer, light “Julchen” beer and delicious white and black beer, served on site in the beautiful restaurant with garden. Also, you can enjoy regional and Italian dishes.
Batzen Bräu, Bozen
The Batzen Bräu brewery in Bozen belongs to the historical pub Batzen Häusl, which is an old town house with a big beer garden, cosy snuggeries and an interesting cultural programme. The brewery produces the beers Batzen Hell, Batzen Dunkel, Batzen Weisse and some seasonal or special beers. You can enjoy it directly in the pub or buy it in the Batzen Shop as souvenir.
Martinerhof’s Brewery, St. Martin in Passeier
In the first hotel with in house with experiential brewery, you can enjoy the full-bodied house beer, participate in guided tours and taste excellent dishes prepared by the hotel’s kitchen team.
House brewery Pfefferlechner, Lana
In the traditional ambiance of the farm tavern and brewery Pfefferlechner, you can see the brewing process at first hand and experience tastings and excellent live music in the beer garden.
AH Brewery, Sachsenklemme/Franzensfeste
Without any doubt, the highlights of AH Brewery in Franzensfeste are the tastings as well as the outdoor beer-spiking, which has its origin in an old forging tradition. The assortment includes light, wheat, seasonal beer as well as beer liquors. In the in-house restaurant/pizzeria with beer garden, the beers are served with culinary delicacies.
