Churches & historical premises in Branzoll
Branzoll has a very long history, whose traces are still visible in the historical village centre today. For a long time, fruit and wine cultivation have been of great importance. Findings of the Roman era suggest that wine was cultivated in Branzoll already at that time.
The village had been a trading centre, as Branzoll was the northernmost shipping spot of Etsch river.
During a discovery tour in Branzoll, you will see several historical buildings in the typical style of the area. Particularly worth seeing is Palais Thomsen with an octagonal fountain made of marble from Trento as well as the three high cedars in the courtyard.
In the centre of Branzoll, there are two wonderful churches. The new parish church is consecrated to the Sacred Heart. The old parish church of St. Leonhard was built in the Romanesque-late Gothic style. In its interiors, there is a baptismal font made of white marble, dating back to the year 1585.
