Holidays in Rasen
Rasen lies at the wide beginning of the Antholz Valley, a wonderful side valley of the Pustertal valley. Between the Rieserferner Ahrn Nature Park and the Kronplatz skiing and hiking area, countless opportunities open up here for holidaymakers to explore the beautiful mountain world in a sporty to leisurely way.
The municipality of Rasen-Antholz extends over the entire Antholz Valley and, with the district of Neunhäusern, also a small part into the Pustertal Valley. Two of the six villages, Niederrasen and Oberrasen, are located right at the entrance to the valley. A little further down the valley lies Antholz (Niedertal, Mittertal and Obertal).
Whether Oberrasen, Niederrasen or Neunhäusern – those who spend their holidays in Rasen have a wide range of outdoor adventures to choose from in the nearby surroundings, from MTB tours to alpine pasture hikes, from cross-country ski trails to ski slopes.
Nature adventures in summer
With its striking three-thousand-metre-high peaks, the Rieserferner Ahrn Nature Park offers several longing destinations for mountaineers. But not every holidaymaker has to venture on a challenging summit tour – an easy hut hike also offers dreamlike panoramas. The idyllic “Rasner Möser” biotope in Oberrasen and the “Wasserwaldile” in Niederrasen are particularly popular destinations with families.
Rasen is the ideal starting point for varied bike tours – for instance to Lake Antholz, to Staller Sattel Pass or to an alpine pasture. The Pustertal cycle path is ideal for a trip to the town of Bruneck. Bikers will find shorter trails in the MTB area in Antholz Niedertal and longer ones in the Bike Park Kronplatz.
Winter sports fun
Cross-country skiing trails and toboggan runs, winter hikes and ski tours – the alpine mountain world surrounding Rasen is also thrilling in the cold season. In addition, the entrance to the Mt. Kronplatz ski area with its variety of slopes is within easy reach.
The Südtirol Arena in Antholz Obertal hosts the Biathlon World Cup every year. Biathlon World Championships have also taken place several times in the Antholz valley, and in 2026 the biathlon competitions will be held here as part of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
