Hiking tour to Trostburg Castle
The Trostburg Castle is a picturesque castle near Waidbruck in Eisacktal in South Tyrol and it’s famous because it was in possess of Oswald von Wolkensteins’ brother.
It was built in 12th century and today there is the castle-museum South Tyrol housed. The castle is situated 200 m above Waidbruck and it seems to protecting the Eisacktal. The Trostburg is a marvellous castle and shows 80 models of South Tyrolean castles inside. They were built by the artist Ludwig Mitterdorfer (1885-1963)
Tour description:
You can reach the castle by food: on a medieval path you take 15 minutes to arrive from Waidbruck to the castle. Another path begins near the cemetery and goes on near the way to Gröden. The castle was enlarged in 14th and 15th century.
