Route description
The starting point of this tour is Plätzwiese. Take trail no. 33 northwards to the southern slope of the Dürrenstein. Trail no. 33 is also part of the Dolomitenhöhenweg trail no. 3. Once on the southern slope, hikers take trail no. 40 and climb first on alpine meadows and then on well-marked rocky paths to the summit of the Dürrenstein.
The view that awaits mountaineers here is impressive: to the north the Zillertal Alps and the Hohe Tauern, to the east and south the Sexten Dolomites, Monte Cristallo and the Hohe Gaisl. The way back is the same as the way out.

Trains stop at the railway station in Niederdorf or Welsberg, bus connection to Plätzwiese
Directions
Brenner motorway A22, exit Brixen/Pustertal, direction Pustertal/Bruneck-Welsberg, in an easterly direction turn right onto the road to Pragsertal, follow the road to Außerprags as far as Gasthof Brückele. A winding road takes you up to Plätzwiese.
