Holidays in Vals
Vals is a small village that is part of the municipality of Mühlbach, located at 1,353 meters high. The village is situated in a beautiful valley and promises a dream holiday for gourmets and wellness lovers at any season.
Characteristic for the area are the typical old mountain huts and farms of Fane pasture, dating back to medieval times and being unique in South Tyrol. If you choose spending some regenerating days in Vals, you should absolutely discover the surrounding landscape of mountains and pastures with breath-taking views.
In the north, Vals is delimited by the Pfunders mountains protecting the are from winds and dark clouds too and guaranteeing a relatively pleasant climate. In summer, the valley is a paradise for passionate mountaineers and outdoor fans, offering cosy trekking paths, interesting cycle paths or moderate and challenging mountain tours.
Spring, summer, autumn & winter
One of the most popular excursion destinations is, without any doubt, Brixner hut, the large high-alpine route of Pfunders and the over 3,000 m high peak Mt. Wilde Kreuzspitze. Vals is a paradise not only in summer. In fact, the nearby Gitschberg Jochtal ski area is a winter sports paradise with beautiful ski runs and cross-country ski runs, toboggan runs and inviting huts.
And in autumn, you can see the traditional transhumance, when shepherds and their herds return to the valley with a big celebration.
