Route description
The route from Niederdorf to Misurina starts in the centre of the small village in Hochpustertal and leads along the main road in Pustertal Valley to the turn-off into the Prags Valley. We follow the road to Prags until we reach the well-signposted turn-off towards Plätzwiese. The steep ascent to an altitude of 2,000 metres is followed by a rapid descent to Schluderbach in the Höhlenstein Valley (1,438 m).
Through the valley, lined with gigantic rock faces, you descend to Cortina d'Ampezzo (1,211 m), the venue of the 1956 Winter Olympics, where the strenuous ascent to the "San Forca" pass and the refuge of the same name (2,215 m) begins. Just don't give up! What follows is the "Tre Croci" pass (1,809 m) and the famous Lake Misurina. Some people will think about cancelling the tour here in view of the magnificent panorama.
Ambitious cyclists, on the other hand, will take the descent to Schluderbach and continue from there along the old railway line to Toblach. The finale: a leisurely pedal along the cycle path to Niederdorf. You've done it!
