Natural bathing pond Gargazon
The natural bathing pond in Gargazon was opened in 2010 and it was the first one in the western part of South Tyrol. The particularity of this swimming pool is its coherent, sustainable and nature-orientated concept including all areas.
A natural bathing pond as ecosystem
The water of the natural bathing pond in the holiday region Meran and environs is completely free of chlorine or other chemical additives. For the water purification there is used the natural effect of plants, which can be found on the edge of the pool and in the filters. In addition, there are flow channels, mechanical extractions and flutings that remove floating matters.
In order to heat up the water for pools and showers there is utilized solar energy. Moreover, the bathing pond is located in the sports zone of Gargazon next to the regional bicycle route and in the vicinity of the railway station. If bathers contribute too – arriving with bus, train or bike, preserving the plants, showering thoroughly and skimping on waterproof sunscreens – then really pure bathing fun is guaranteed.
Water rats may enjoy not only the about 1,000 sq. m large and up to 2 m deep swimming pool; furthermore there are streams, a children’s pool, playgrounds, beach volleyball, table tennis and tabletop soccer. Of course guest will find even deck chairs and sunshades, as well as a spacious green area with shadowy places and much space to relax, to play and to sunbath.
