In Pustertal, this tuber is one of the most important local products and is celebrated for its valuable ingredients. In occasion of the potato festival, visitors can taste traditional and creative delicacies, prepared by local associations, students and other organizations.
Originally, potatoes were only used as animal feed. Today, they play an essential role in cooking and are a fix component in the traditional and international cuisine. During the potato festival in Bruneck, all visitors can learn more about cultivation, the varieties and characteristics of potatoes from South Tyrol. Musical entertainment and a varied programme for kids are offered too.
In addition to the potato festival, the potatoes from South Tyrol play the main role during the “Puschtra potato weeks” too. You can enjoy delicious dishes in several restaurants in Pustertal and Gadertal, where potatoes play the main role as well, used for starters, main courses and desserts.
