Etsch cycle path: cycle tour through the Etschtal Valley to Verona
The Etschtal Valley stretches from Vinschgau via Meran and environs to the south of South Tyrol, and is ideal for leisure cyclists and families with its cycle path of the same name.

On the bike from Reschen to Verona
The Etsch (Italian Adige) is the longest river in South Tyrol and flows through the Vinschgau, the region of Meran and environs and southern South Tyrol; from there to Trentino, as far as Verona and later into the Adriatic Sea. You can follow the course of the river from Reschen to Verona on a mostly well-maintained cycle path.
From Reschen, the tour is always slightly downhill or flat and is therefore also suitable for beginners and cyclists with a lower level of fitness. The Etsch cycle path is part of an extensive and mostly signposted cycle network in South Tyrol. It meanders leisurely through popular holiday resorts, picturesque apple orchards and vineyards.
3 stages from Reschen to Verona
The 300 km long Etschtal cycle path can be cycled in several stages:
- The first goes from Reschen to Meran, with a length of about 100 km, crossing fields and orchards.
- The second part goes from Meran to Trient, is about 98 km long and touches many beautiful places such as Lake Kaltern and the city of Trient.
- The last stage of 101.5 km connects Trient and Verona, passing by Ala-Avio and Rovereto. The bike path of the Etschtal ends in one of the most romantic cities in Veneto, the city of Romeo and Juliet: Verona.
Along the way, you can marvel at the beautiful scenery and numerous sights. Cosy inns and hotels invite you to linger and offer you delicious refreshments. In many places, it is also possible to return by train.
