In the town centre of Meran, this year takes place the South Tyrolean Gourmet Day. Local producers and experts will present different types of herbs, spices and blends strictly grown in South Tyrol.
The use of herbs is an art that is handed down for hundreds of years. Some herbs, such as calendula and lavender, have healing and relaxing properties, they are used to produce essential oils and ointments. Mint, rosemary, sage, juniper, thyme are great in cooking and give dishes unique flavours and taste.
Many farms in South Tyrol are dedicated to the cultivation of herbs, and they do it naturally, without the use of fertilizer, if not of natural origin, far from the smog and pollution.
You can discover the properties and the secrets of herbs from South Tyrol, during the South Tyrolean Gourmet Day in Meran, and you can also taste delicacies, fragrant teas and cosmetic products made from mountain herbs.
